Instructions to Authors
Manuscripts are accepted exclusively in electronic form in MicrosoftŽ WordŽ, ie. *.doc and *.docx (eventually *.rtf) file format.
1. How to write text
Text
The entire handwriting should be structured as follows in particular in the book of the individual parts
- content
- foreword, eventually afterword
- structured text of the book (see below)
- list of literature
- Registry without page numbers
- others (resume , annotation, authors' medallions)
Text is to be supplied without complicated formatting, paragraphs are terminated correctly ( ie by pressing ENTER), at the beginning is not entered manually Tab offset or multiple spaces (offset by paragraph style does not matter) . It is necessary to use no word splitting. For writing the best way is to use the basic fonts of Word.
In the manuscript, there won’t be used (in particular)
- non-text objects (floating frames, boxes with text, etc.)
When Word revision system is used preparing the handwriting (fixes , tracking changes, comments), you have to unify the text ( accept or reject the corrections, skip comment, etc.) before passing the handwriting. The handwriting must not contain ambiguities (such as multiple variants) or internal notes by authors / proof readers / reviewers when submitted to the typesetting.
For the text layout, use unified title / subtitle hierarchy preferably using Word styles (eg. bold, size, ) and / or hierarchical enumeration (decimal system). The smallest possible structure (number) of title levels should be used . The entire handwriting is to be continually paginated.
You can use italics or bold fonts to mark the text . Don’t use underlining, bold italics, and interspersed font (in case of necessity the only choice is WordŽ character style, never introduce spaces between characters manually). When marking the text using capitals and small caps, the relevant Word text styles should be used.
Only characters writable directly by keyboard or insertable by "Insert Symbol" commands can be used. UNICODE character set allows to use “exotic" characters of different national alphabets (name and characters beyond the Latin alphabet).
The footnotes in the text must be created using generic WordŽ apparatus. NEVER insert the footnotes "manually" ( ie using sub/superscript) . Footnotes should not be (if possible) used in tables. However, when used anyway, it is appropriate to use a separate footnote system for the table.
If mathematical expressions are inserted in the text, they should be created by Equation Editor or MathType (or inserted as vector drawings).
Tables
Tables are to be created using
- ExcelŽ spreadsheet program – table is inserted in the manuscript in the place where it should appear in book, complicated table should be supplied in separate ExcelŽ file. Be careful that the table did not include links to another files.
However, if footnotes must be used in the table, it is appropriate to use a separate footnotes wit different index numbering.
Picture attachments
The image documentation must be supplied in electronic form *) . Pictures can be pasted in text, however, it is imperative to provide them for the typesetting as separate files in sufficient print quality, since WordŽ Text Editor irreparably damages images in format, resolution and quality .
Separate graphics files must be clearly labeled with description of their placement in the text .
Formats and resolutions for image materials in electronic form :
- halftone images, photos, etc.: any raster (bitmap) format , eg jpg , tiff, pdf, psd, etc. , at a resolution of at least 300 dpi for the final inserted image. Color space is not essential.
- graphs : files created either by WordŽ / ExcelŽ editors, or provided in the vector format (pdf, eps, ai, etc.). Graphs in ExcelŽ format must be sent including the full data. Charts can supplied (in the worst case) as raster images of sufficient resolution (see above).
Bibliographies, registers and attachments
must be delivered together with the whole handwriting - as a part of it .
- It is best practice to format the quotation according to the valid standard ISO 690:2011 ( see www.iso690.zcu.cz for example), authors can however use the formatter at www.citace.com or other tools (e.g. on the faculty's library site).
- The indexes are compiled as password based( by terms / names / etc ) and pages are written by authors of the index after proof-readings have been completed. Attention: The WordŽ Hypertext Markup Tool won’t be converted to the typesetting!!!
Copyright
The text of the manuscript and the illustrations must be protected by copyright (ie quoting sources for the third - party pictures illustrations keeping public resources rules/conditions of use, etc.)
2. Processing of proofs
For proof-readings, the typesetting is supplied in the pdf format open for writing annotations.
- In case of unavailability of above mentioned technology , the authors can print the typesetted files and enter the proofs using the standard proof markers (see eg. http://www.typo.cz/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/korektorske-znacky.pdf - in Czech). Such proof must be handed over to the publisher in original form, in extreme it can be scanned and sent electronically; it is then necessary to ensure perfect legibility (sufficient resolution, scanning to the edges and - when necessary - in color). Extensive text changes (all changes in foreign languages) must be delivered electronically (in a file) .
